is an opportunity to merge the independence of traditional homeschooling with the structure and collaboration of a classroom environment. Ideally, it is the best of both worlds! PreK through 5th grade (ADDING 6th and 7th gr.in 2025-26!) students gather with experienced, qualified teachers twice weekly for the core subjects, including Spanish, music and art, with the unified mission to build a community where children flourish in their curiosity of the world, while discovering their God-given purpose and potential. At CULTIVATE, it’s about nurturing our cognition, creativity and character.
This hybrid model only thrives if both teachers and parents partner in the educational process. Thus, we’ve made it easy by curating the curriculum and providing a solid, clear plan to implement at home. We strive for academic excellence, yet simplicity.
CULTIVATE
WE CULTIVATE:
Contemplative, Critical and Creative Thinkers
Curious, Growth-Mindset Scholars
Effective Communicators
Virtuous and Industrious Citizens
Kind, Empathetic Souls
Our Values:
Community
Much of our curriculum is grounded in a Protestant, Judeo-Christian context, and we emphasize those values through literacy with our students; however, we do not instruct directly from the Bible. We believe it is the parents’ duty and privilege to instruct their children in spiritual practices. All families are welcome to join our hybrid group, with the understanding of a Biblical worldview, supported with actions and words that reflect Christ-like virtues.

We provide a recommendation list for parents of various math curriculums that are designed for distinct learning styles, from which the parents choose. Some include Primary Math 2022 (formerly Singapore Math), The Good and the Beautiful, Math with Confidence and Math-U-See, with all textbook work done at home. Students take a placement test upon enrollment to determine the group best suited for their aptitude, and on CULTIVATE days, we spend our math period playing games with plenty of manipulatives to reinforce the foundational concepts of numeric and quantitative logic. Through math games and simulated real-world scenarios that reinforce commerce skills, math becomes fun and applicable, and students gain mastery and fluency. However, there will be opportunities for older students to receive math tutoring on CULTIVATE days this upcoming school year.

Students learn the fundamentals of the English language, how it functions phonetically, reading and comprehension, vocabulary, grammar and the art of writing through organizing thought. We adhere to the Orton-Gillingham approach presented in the All About Reading program for younger students. For the older grades, we implement the methodologies of Fix It! Grammar from IEW (Institute for Excellence in Writing). All students are exposed to rich, classical literature and poetry that emphasizes strong character development and important moral themes. Older students participate in literature discussions, complete comprehension and vocabulary studies, and have sequential writing assignments.

We believe in promoting a strong, healthy patriotism for our American heritage, passing down the great traditions of Western Civilization. We believe in emphasizing our active duty as citizens, adhering to the values of Constitution. We cycle through periods of Early American history and Ancient World history, utilizing The Story of the World (Susan Wise Bauer) and a variety of vibrant literature, much of which comes recommended by Beautiful Feet Publishers. Family-style is the best!

Exploring God’s world is endlessly intriguing! Younger students embark on gentle, Charlotte-Mason-style lessons through Treehouse Schoolhouse Nature Study, covering seasonal subjects, animals, trees and plants, weather, moon phases, rocks, biomes, etc. Older students cycle through Master Books God’s Design science curriculum (botany and human anatomy 2023-24 , zoology, water and weather 2024-25, followed by earth and space sciences 2025-26). Incorporating hands-on experiments and quality short videos, science holds space for wonder and investigation. We teach through the Biblical lens of a six-day Creation, and we strive to keep both science and history family-style, where all siblings are learning about the same topics simultaneously, but at different depths.

We believe that the beauty of the world is most appreciated, expressed and experienced through the visual arts and the performance arts, specifically ensemble music-making and singing. We strive to expose students to a wide variety of styles and mediums where which they express themselves and learn about others interpretations of the world. Our wonderful art teacher, Victoria King, also incorporates watercolor nature journaling with our students. Additionally, we provide a few performance opportunities for students to develop stage confidence while they grace their audience with musical artistry.

Our enthusiastic Spanish teacher gives the students weekly instruction in conversational foreign language.
Curriculum
Location
We meet at a church campus close to Old Town Scottsdale every Tuesday and Wednesday, from 8:30am until 2:30pm (2pm for PreK through 1st grade). Parents drop students off, and between classes, there is plenty of grassy run-around space, a gated playground (awning-covered) to expend physical energy, as well as an extensive, vibrant community garden for our hands to plant, cultivate and harvest!
Classes
Children are grouped in combinations according to skill level in a particular subject, not exceeding 8 students to one teacher. Movement, conversations, games and projects are high priorities when we’re together. Students have minimal work to complete on home days, and curriculum transfers from campus to home with a clear scope and sequence for parents to follow.
Tuition
As an ESA approved vendor, we charge an annual tuition of $4,900 (PreK/K) and $5,500 (1st-7th) which covers facilities, experienced teachers, insurance and curriculum/materials. Payments are made quarterly and a deposit is required upon enrolling. Following a standard school schedule, we meet for a total of 38 weeks, starting August 12th, 2025.
Founder
Jolene Warner is a homeschool alumna who then completed her Masters in Music Education at Arizona State University in 2007. She embraced teaching at multiple Tempe Elementary District schools, as a general music educator for the next twelve years, along with being a choir director at Phoenix Boys Choir for seven years. Upon having their own children, she made career shifts to better accommodate mothering by teaching part-time in the Great Hearts schools as music teacher for two years, and she most recently operated a microschool for multi-grade students out of their home for the last three years. Jolene has a passion to ignite enthusiasm for learning, and she integrates multiple methodologies and techniques to engage students holistically, keeping it fun and fast-paced, while maintaining high expectations for intellectual and moral development. She and her husband Josh have a son, Jack in 1st grade, and a preschool daughter, Jane.
Educators
All five classroom teachers are seasoned, qualified and energetic women, two of whom are veteran homeschool moms and three of whom taught for years in public schools. One has extensive training credentials in serving children with all forms of dyslexia and aiding them along the road to successful reading. They are all passionate about tailoring approaches to each individual child and connecting with them in a personal, engaging way. We also have a separate Spanish teacher and a beloved art teacher, both with extensive experience and effective approaches to their instruction. Bios and photos are coming soon!
